About Us

Vintara is operated by Lisa and Michael Murtagh. Michael and Lisa were born just down the road (Michael literally married the girl next door) from the Vintara vineyard, having worked in the wine business for over 20 years both in Australia and in many parts of the world, they returned to setup Vintara and reside in the Rutherglen region.

Michael makes the beers and the wines as well as managing the 50 hectares of vineyards, Lisa manages the office and general operations.

All Vintara Wines come from low yielding (less then 1.5 tonnes per acre) bush vines on the Vintara vineyard located approximately 12 kms east of Rutherglen just south of the
Murray Valley Highway.

Due to the low yields only a few hundred cases of each wine will be made each year

The Vintara Restaurant offers a contemporary setting with loads of room and panoramic views over the Murray Valley.  Have breakfast with us from 9.00 to 11.00am. Thursday to Monday.

The eggs benedict with salmon is an all-time favourite as is Gavin’s hearty home made sausages with all the trimmings.  Lunch is available Thurs to Sun from 12.00 to 3.00pm.  >From Peking duck rolls or rabbit gnocchi. Delve into the wide ranging seasonal menus.
